SALAME DE CHOCOLATE
So when i first came to this country and got introduced to this deliciousness i was like, man i came to the right place. My dear friend Bea and i made this yummy treat together the other day and we had so much fun. See here a super yummy and sweet Portuguese sweet called Salami de Chocolate, just something extra sweet for the weekend, enjoy!
280 gr Maria biscuits (we used gluten free ones)
2 tbsp maizena mixed with water (i did not use this and it still worked)
80 gr Cacao Powder
100 gr Vegan Margarine
150 gr Brown Sugar (or Coconut Sugar)
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp Desiccated Coconut (to sprinkle the top)
Start with crumbling the cookies into small crumbles, they should not become flour, but they do need to be small crumbles for the recipe to work.
Add the cookie crumbles and all other ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix well together, use your hands to do this, the mixture should be pretty hard, the texture should be thick enough to be rolled into a large sausage. Roll out aluminium foil and place the “big sausage roll” (salami) on the foil. Sprinkle with coconut.
Then wrap the foil together, closing both the ends with a knot. Place in the fridge for 12 hours.
Serve by cutting the salami into slices while still wrapped in the foil, enjoy!
